Reason for inclusion: The residence of Dr Trevelyan and Mr Blessington, visited by Holmes and Watson
Accessibility: Visible from the outside
Description: The street contains some neo classical terraced houses mostly built to individual designs by architects for wealthy tenants. The land is leasehold being owned since before 1800 by the Grosvenor estate
Comments: One of the houses on Brook Street was occupied by William Gully, one of Queen Victoria’s physicians, so it is quite conceivable that Dr Trevelyan operated from a practice in this street. Watson gives us no further details of the property, not even a number, and all we learn is it is “one of those sombre flat-faced houses which one associates with a West End practice”
