  • Reason for inclusion: The site of 3 Lauriston Gardens where Debber was murdered

    Accessibilty: Open to the public

    Description: a public park.

By meticulous scholarship, using photographs and old maps, Bernard Davies attributed Drebber’s murder to taking place in one of the four detached houses of the common villa type that formerly stood on this site. Originally, they were numbered 329-335 with Davies selecting No 333 as the murder site. The murder took place within 200 yards of Brixton Police station allowing for both Gregson and Lestrade to walk to the scene of the crime. The houses were demolished in 1979-1980 and the park created.
