The Adventure of the Red Circle (dated to between 1895 and 1902) is one of 8 Sherlock Holmes short stories in His Last Bow. It was first published in The Strand Magazine in March 1911. Holmes is visited by Mrs Warren a landlady who takes in lodgers who is concerned about the mysterious behaviour of one of her new lodgers. This concern increases when her husband is kidnapped and deposited on Hampstead Heath. With coded messages in newspapers and signals being sent to the mysterious lodger, Holmes and Watson assist Scotland Yard and Pinkerton’s Detective Agency to track down a known killer.
