The Abbey Grange
The Adventure of The Abbey Grange (1897) is one of 13 Sherlock Holmes short stories in The Return of Sherlock Holmes. It was first published in The Strand Magazine September 1904. Holmes and Watson are summoned by Inspector Hopkins to The Abbey Grange in Kent to investigate the death of Sir Eustace Brackenstall, the injuring of his wife and the stealing of family silver. But all is not what it seems and involves Holmes and Watson visiting the offices of the Adelaide-Southampton shipping line and an “all is revealed” ending at Baker Street. The story contains the famous statement by Holmes to Watson: “Come, Watson, come!..The game is afoot”.
